The Admission Age in Preschool & Kindergarten

ÉINY follows the cutoff date established by the French educational system. All children entering the Nursery class must be potty trained before the first day of school. Pull-ups are not permitted during school hours.

Child entering Nursery Must turn three (3) by December 31, 2014
Child entering Pre-Kindergarten Must turn four (4) by December 31, 2014
Child entering Kindergarten Must turn five (5) by December 31, 2014

EXPLOR’éiny for Children Living in New York

Once prospective parents have submitted their application, they will be contacted by Ms. Mireille Desalm who will schedule a date and time for EXPLOR’éiny during which their child/ren will visit our school.This appointment takes place in January 2014. EXPLOR’éiny refers to the onsite observation of children by faculty in our school setting. EXPLOR’éiny varies depending on the age and entry level of the child.

EXPLOR’éiny Detailed Description

Child entering On-site observation
Nursery Duration: 45 to 60 minutes
Format: group activity with fellow prospective students observed by French and American Preschool teachers
Pre-Kindergarten Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Format: group activity with fellow prospective students  observed by French and American Preschool teachers
Kindergarten Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Format: group activity with fellow prospective students observed by French and American Preschool teachers
1st grade Time: Two (2) hours
Format: EINY French and American teachers will give an entry test to the student.
2nd thru 7th grade Time: up to 3 hours
Format: EINY French and American teachers will give an entry test to the student.

EINY may require students applying to grades 1 thru 5 to spend up to two (2) full days from 8:20am-3:25pm.

For Parents Living Abroad or in Another City in the USA

If the parents live outside the U.S., they must provide the copies of all student report cards of the past two years translated in French or English if needed.

Information About Classroom Organization and Programs

Upon request, parents can receive via email the full curriculum packet that includes a typical day in the Preschool, weekly schedules and the FUN’éi brochure, our After School Program.
