The school is on a relatively quiet street in the Gramercy/Flatiron area, between Gramercy Park and Madison Square Park. This is an established, prime residential and commercial area, convenient to the vibrant, youthful neighborhoods to the south and west.
The 6 Line subway stops on the (Park Avenue South) corner. Four other subway lines stop farther west on 22nd or 23rd streets.
Madison Square Park (6.8 acre; 2.75 hectare) is 2 blocks from the school. The Park includes a playground and the Shake Shack restaurant. Bordering the park, are the Flatiron Building, the Met Life Tower, and the slender tower being finished at One Madison Park.
A new 15,000 square foot playground just opened at the north end of Union Square, about 500 yards from EINY. Union Square is also known for itsGreenmarket (farmers’ market), every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
In the neighborhood, your kids might like Books of Wonder, the Cupcake Cafe, or Abacadabra. Many adults are happy to discover the coffee house, 71 Irving Place.
